Recently, I read the e-book The Changing History Theories and How to Teach Them by Dr. Ruth Beechick. As a homeschooler who is also a Christian, I was looking for a book that would step back from what the world teaches us about history and begin to look at history from a Biblical perspective. This ebook begins by explaining the differences between what has been readily accepted as history from the current world view and showing how the Bible can be seen as a history book and not just merely a story of legends as many in the world would take it to be. The author provides some guidelines and a different approach for how we as homeschoolers can teach history using the Bible as our foundation. She suggests a non -traditional approach which is more in line with what is taught throughout the Bible and not what secular world views have established. For someone who has struggled with how to teach history as a Christian, this ebook is a refreshing change. It not only explains various history theories, but also describes how parents can teach history in a fuller, more meaningful way that goes beyond the typical read, memorize, and take the test approach which is seen in most history curriculums that we use in today's society. If you are ready to be challenged and change your view of history, I would recommend getting your copy of The Changing History Theories and How to Teach Them.
